12 TIPS FOR THE BRIDE TO LOOK HER BEST

Although a wedding can be very stressful, especially its planning, it should never be a source of unease or exhaustion. On your wedding day, a time when you are supposed to be more splendid than ever, you shouldn’t look tired or exhausted… After all, you’ve planned everything so this could be a day full of harmony and happiness.

1. Plan everything in advance. Make your appointments beforehand, and make a detailed plan for the wedding day and for the previous days.

2. Book a massage for the morning of your wedding day so you can start your day relaxed.

3. Make an appointment for pedicure and manicure, preferably in the same place so that you don’t have to run around from place to place. Remember that problems such as traffic may occur and you might run late.

4. Book the hairdresser and the make-up also in the same place for the reasons mentioned above. If you can do everything in the same place… excellent!

5. Before your wedding day, about two weeks in advance, do a make-up test to check for eventual allergies to products and take a picture so the make-up artist can reproduce it faithfully on your wedding day. Look at the make-up in the light you will be exposed to on your wedding day and take one or more pictures on those conditions.

6. Do the same for the hairstyle at the hairdresser before your wedding dayTake pictures, put the veil or other accessories you intend to wear, take one or several pictures, and see yourself in them since this is how you will look like in your wedding photos. Don’t forget to check if everything is as you want. This also applies to the gown, the colours at the reception and the make-up.

7. Make facials and wax at least two weeks before your wedding day. Imagine you get a rash… You will need at least that time to cure the problem.

8. Cut your hair at least two weeks before the wedding. This will allow time for the hair to look more natural and even if you colour it you can always change it if you don’t like it.

9. If your hair is going to be pinned up during the wedding, wash your hair the night before and not on your wedding day for it will be easier to pin it up and style it. If you’re wearing a veil or a hat and you intend to take it off after the ceremony, ask the hairdresser to be there so he/she can help you remove it with care and make eventual adjustments.

10. If the wedding takes place in the summer or in a very sunny place don’t forget towear sunblock underneath your make-up and in the parts of your body that will be exposed to the sun.

11. If the ceremony lasts until the night, ask the make-up artist to retouch the make-up by the end of the afternoon for the make-up must always be a little stronger and heavier at night for the photographs and also for the mood.

12. Don’t go to a solarium before your wedding day, don’t even go out in the sun since your skin may get spotted or sun burned. This is never pleasant least of all on your wedding day!

HOW TO DECIDE THE WEDDING THEME

HOW TO DECIDE THE WEDDING THEME

They have set the date, and it’s time to start planning the wedding, which also means choosing a theme for the big day. Many marriages contain poems, books, contemporary music, a mixture of various traditions, as a Buddhist ceremony and dinner on the Japanese theme. Brides are no longer limited to white wedding dresses and while some marriages are more loose and relaxed, others are more formal and elegant. To determine what kind of wedding you want and decide the issue of marriage, the couple should determine their own style. Also, decide what you like both, it is equally important to determine what you do not like. Answer the following questions together, one step closer to deciding what kind of wedding perfect for you to get.

  • What are your favorite restaurants? Describe what you like about them: the atmosphere, the type of food it serves, its quality, the service and even the way the restaurant is decorated.
  • What are your favorite foods? French, classic American, pure British, Japanese, Chinese, Indian, fusion, vegetarian, organic… What are your favorite foods at the restaurants you usually go to together?
  • What are your favorite desserts? If you had to choose, which type of chocolate do you prefer: white, dark, milk, all three or none?
  • What are your favorite drinks? Fruit cocktails, iced tea, beer, spirits, liquors, wine?
  • Where would you like to spend a vacation? What do you like most about that place and why? Is this place formal, relaxed, cosmopolitan, exotic or rustic?
  • Do you prefer the city or the country?
  • What are your favorite books, shows, movies, stories or authors? Why are they so special and what speaks to you most in the stories behind these movies or books?
  • What is your favorite flower? Is there any flower that you don’t like?
  • What are your favorite colors? Which are your least favorite colors?
  • Do you have a hobby or interest that you would like to incorporate in the wedding? For example: music, wines…
  • Which fashion designer or brand names do you prefer? Do you like them because of their design, use of specific colors or fabrics?
  • Do you prefer a certain type of textile or pattern? Example of textile: silk. Example of pattern: polka dots.
  • Is there any time of day or of the year that particularly inspires you? Do you prefer sunrise or sunset? Summer or Winter? Do you like sitting outside in the garden or enjoy sitting by a warm fire instead? Is this something you can incorporate into your wedding?
  • Do you have any type of collection that can be the inspiration for the wedding’s theme? Maybe your grandmother’s linens, antique dishware, jewelry boxes, crystal pendants, miniature cars or boats…
  • Do you imagine your wedding like a fairytale, something you’ve dreamed about since childhood, or as an event with a more contemporary touch?
  • Do you see your wedding as one unique event or as a series of events organized over various days?
  • What is your favorite type of music? Make a list of your favorite singers and their songs… as well as any songs you don’t want to hear at the wedding!
  • If you had a day off, what would you love to do? Spend the day relaxing at a spa or go mountain climbing? Think about the different ways that you could incorporate those ideas into the wedding. What could make those details magical?
  • What type of photography do you enjoy? Photo-journalism (photography that captures the essence of the day, as opposed to a staged smile), documentary (the photographer registers everything that happens) or traditional portrait (typical wedding portrait photography)? Do you prefer black and white photographs, in color or sepia?

Deciding the theme

After answering all these questions, it is much easier to identify the perfect style and theme of your wedding. The topic may reflect something of your favorite movie, a color, a poem or a favorite flower. Above all, it should be something that you are inspired as much. Whatever theme you decide to apply to your marriage, it should be your guide in all aspects of the organization of marriage and decoration. The topic should be something that you can easily identify all the elements in marriage, such as invitations, menus, wedding cake, music, decorations and wedding favors can be, just to name a few of each.

WEDDING TRENDS FOR 2011

After the weddings with huge and opulent flower arrangements come the small and simple ones, with less quantity. Tables should be long and elegant instead of round, because long tables not only emphasize the decoration but are also reminiscent of other times, when they were part of homemade family celebrations. Must trends: include country flowers, recycle small glass recipients (such as yogurt or mason jars) and tin tea cans, create an eco-chic and rustic ambience for the wedding, which is simultaneously original and elegant.

Outdoor weddings

The weather is hard to predict, but outdoor weddings are a huge trend for 2011 because a party in the outdoors is different, fun and relaxing. If it’s possible to make yours an outdoor wedding, than do it! However, it’s very important that you have a plan B, just in case the rain decides to bless your big day!

Back to the past

The past is back and all vintage ideas as well. Incorporating modern elements that have a historical past is a growing trend, which is very appreciated by everyone that participates in weddings with these types of ideas. Presenting your guests with party favors from historical brands, building the wedding theme around this concept, recycling and wearing your mother or grandmother’s wedding dress, incorporating your parents’ or grandparents’ wedding pictures into the décor, creating an atmosphere of nostalgic romance is always nice and very, very trendy these days.

Details, details, details

Details are hardly overlooked but now they are more important than ever! No tiny detail should go unseen and everything should be planned right down to the last feature. If you don’t have time for details, there’s nothing like hiring a wedding planner to transform your wedding dreams into reality. The wedding cake table is a main focal point, the place cards should be original and personalized, the chairs should have a special touch, the wedding color palette should be very well thought out – basically, think about all the small details that will make a big difference.

DIY

The DIY concept – Do It Yourself – is definitely here to stay and it’s one of the biggest 2011 wedding trends, not only from an economical point of view, but also because there isn’t anything more special than incorporating handmade elements – made by the bride and the groom – into the wedding.

Old school photography

Photography is going to take a vintage spin, with wedding albums that are reminiscent of the seventies. Draped textiles as backgrounds for photographing the bride and the groom, as well as guests, in a relaxed setting is a big trend, so don’t forget to set up something like this at your wedding: it’s very simple and, best of all, loads of fun for everyone.

Simple but quality menus and food

Just as weddings in general are going to be simple and pretty in 2011, so should the menu. Traditional food presented in a very modern way or with a touch of originality is the way to go. Serving lemonade, mazagran, colorful teas – all in a special way – is definitely a very pretty trend.

Rustic wedding cakes

The 2011 wedding trends include rustic-chic concepts, lots of details and a ton of creativity. Outdoor weddings are a big must as soon as the sun begins to shine (or not!) and indoor weddings are getting a little break. Discover the biggest wedding trends for 2011.

Pretty & Simple

Wedding cakes will continue to be tall and elegant, but with a touch of rustic-chic, where fondant is replaced by a delicious butter cream and large sugar flowers are substituted by natural flowers, sugar glazed fruit or just fun details. The wedding cake table is a huge trend: it should be beautiful and a highlight at the reception venue.
